Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) was a British composer who wrote many operas and orchestral pieces, the most famous of which is ‘The Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra – seen here played by the YouTube Orchestra.
Ralph Vaughan-Williams (1872-1958) is another important British composer. He kept a traditional modal sound, painting aural images of British countryside and city life around the turn of the century. Here is a video of his London Symphony, composed in 1914.
