Bend It Like Beckham

‘Bend It Like Beckham’ is a comedy movie made in 2002 starring Keira Knightly(‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’) and Parminder Nagra (‘ER’) showing some of the problems facing young people who are growing up in a culture different to that in which their parents grew up. A teenage Indian girl wants to play football but her traditional parents are totally against it. She has to ‘bend the rules’, just like she can ‘bend the ball’. The movie highlights some of the difficult points and interesting points of a multi-cultural society.

ベッカム、とタイトルにありますが、あのベッカムを描いた映画ではありません。パイレーツ　オブ　カリビアンのKeira　Knightlyと、ERのPerminder Nagra の共演で、ロンドン西部でインドの家風そのものの中で育てられたインド人少女が、イギリス社会と家庭との文化の違いにとまどったり苦闘したりしながら明るく夢を追う、見る人が元気になれる作品です。インド系移民が多いイギリスの一面がみられ、ふたりの女優が魅力的な、素敵な一作です。2002年公開。
