London International Mime Festival

The London International Mime Festival takes place throughout January at various venues throughout central London. It is the largest and longest-running mime event in the world. The English word ‘mime’ is known as ‘パントマイム’ in Japanese, though ‘pantomime‘ is a very different form of theatre performance in English. British pantomime is a light comedy play performed during the Christmas season in theatres all over Britain, featuring various celebrities. Mime is a performance with no speaking.

ロンドン国際マイムフェステイバルは、一月にロンドン中心部のあらゆる劇場で行われます。世界最大、最長のマイムイベントです。マイムとは、台詞のないパフォーマンスをさします。日本ではパントマイムといいますが、英語でパントマイムとは、クリスマスシーズンに有名人（俳優とは限りません）が出演するコメディータッチの劇のことで、意味がことなります。

Some of the venues include the South Bank Centre (where the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra perform) and the Royal Opera House. Around 16,000 people attend the event.
