News Exercise #132
This week I have chosen a lighter news topic after all the serious ones recently:
1. How did the two men describe being in the mock-up of the Soyuz?
2. From 2:37 Kelly explained why he believes space exploration is important. What points did he make?
3. What was one key reason for this man being important for space travel research, compared to other astronauts?
4. As I would have guessed, most of the comments after this video are negative. Can you understand the position of the negative commenters?
Answers:
1. How did the two men describe being in the mock-up of the Soyuz?
They said that it was like a sardine can, and that it wasn’t uncomfortable; it was incredibly painful.
2. From 2:37 Kelly explained why he believes space exploration is important. What points did he make?
He said, “I think space is important, I think it’s our future. It helps our economy grow, it improves technology. You know, I think there are things we’re going to discover about our experience in space, space station, that we… you know, we don’t even know now.
3. What was one key reason for this man being important for space travel research, compared to other astronauts?
He has a twin brother. The two men were compared before and after his time in space to compare how the human body adapts to a long period of time in space.
4. As I would have guessed, most of the comments after this video are negative. Can you understand the position of the negative commenters?
They are deniers. They think NASA, and the world, is faking the space station; that people never went into space. This mostly comes from the people who believe the Earth is flat.
