News Exercise #151
1. How did Trump avoid saying directly (which would have been incorrectly) that Clinton will stop all guns?
2. Saying there’s nothing anyone can do although the “Second Amendment people” (by which I assume he means supporters of the Second Amendment) maybe can do something made people think he means someone could assassinate her – he then said “that would be a horrible day”, but to what was he referring then?
3. How did the interviewee interpret Trump’s comment about this?

1. How did Trump avoid saying directly (which would have been incorrectly) that Clinton will stop all guns?
He said that Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment. Using the word “essentially” means that it is “very nearly completely”.
2. It would be a horrible day of Clinton gets to choose the judges.
3. How did the interviewee interpret Trump’s comment about this?
He says that gun enthusiasts will still keep the guns even if they are outlawed, just like in the past when alcohol was outlawed and people continued to produce it illegally.
