The police officer said, “We have stories of people coming out (of bars and restaurants) armed with chairs, other items, were throwing bottles, anything they could get their hands on, with a view to trying to prevent the attackers either coming into pubs and bars, but more importantly, to scare them off, to try and stop other people getting attacked.”
