Christmas Crackers

Crackers are a part of Christmas Dinner. One Cracker is placed in front of each person at the table, and before eating everybody holds the ends of two crackers, one with the person on each side, all around the table. They then pull the crackers, which make a small ‘crack’ sound, and from the crackers fall three things: A paper crown, worn throughout the dinner, a small and cheap toy, and a paper with a joke written on it. Everybody reads out their joke before starting dinner.
Christmas Crackerは、クリスマスディナーの席に、1人ひとつずつセットされています。全員が両隣の人とそれぞれの一端を持ち、同時に引きます。パーンという音と共にクラッカーが割れると、紙製の冠（これを着けてディナーをいただきます）、小さく安いプレゼント（小さい磁石やネジまわしなど、誰も欲しくないようなもの）、ジョークが書いた紙の3点が出てきます。全員がそのジョークを読み上げた後、食事を始めます。
