Answers:
1. Complete this opening statement:
The island of Barbuda was once a Caribbean Paradise. Now it is lost. Hurricane Irma has reduced it to rubble. Homes are unrecognisable, the ruins lie scattered, torn and ripped apart.
2. The first interviewed person, at 0:29, explained what she expected to do. What is her plan, and why?
She said that she was going to leave but that she would return to try to salvage something and help, and that this was because her whole life was there.
3. How does the Prime Minister hope that Barbuda can recover?
He said that he hoped friendly governments and (Barbuda’s) international partners will “step up to the plate” (make the decision) and assist them, and that they should not see this as a form of begging, because this is actually a national disaster.
