Answers
1st speaker:
1. What is he explaining and pointing to, and how far away is it?
The hospital is beyond the flames. The ER is about 20 feet (6m) behind the fire.
2nd speaker:
2. How was she informed of the fire?
At about 11 o’clock she heard a car horn ‘honking’ (an onomatopoeia) ‘like crazy’. She then drew (opened) her blinds and saw the fire.
3. What did she do first after she discovered the fire?
She called her neighbours and they all left in their cars.
4. What did she manage to save from her home?
Only her cat. She said, “I’ve got my cat in the car over there and that’s about it.” The expression “That’s about it,” means “nothing more”.
