Rising Damp

Rising Damp is a sitcom from the 1970s starring Leonard Rossiter (1926-2004) as a landlord of a very small apartment building, in which he also lives. He isn’t kind to the male tenants but he is overly nice to female tenants, and they usually don’t like him. He is in love with ‘Miss Jones’ but his efforts for impress her always result in trouble.

It co-stars Richard Beckinsale (1947-1979), father of actress Kate Beckinsale, and he was co-star of Porridge – in my blog entry for “Porridge”. Bweckinsale was also in “Coronation Stree”t at the start in 1960. He died of a heart attack at age 31.
